Edit: It's been suggested on Twitter that it's an Accupuncture needle... part of a public arts project. If such is the case, it's more lame that the city is requiring this be painted over. 

This is on 12th at the train crossing in SE Portland. What is it? I noticed another one off Broadway over by the Rose Garden. Weird Copper balloon thing on a pole. Weather? Aliens? Street Art? Google Takeover?

Thousands of Naked Cyclists in Portland

Thousands of naked cyclists (not sure how many, but they were expecting as
many as 12,000) hit the streets of Portland tonight. Here are a few photos
captured on Burnside around 10:30pm this evening. And yes, that is a
homeless man with his pants around his ankles in one of the shots. He was
standing like that for at least 15 minutes.
